I have always been passionate about health and fitness. Working in the industry as a Personal Trainer I was particularly aware of the importance of keeping active and eating well.

When I was pregnant two years ago, I wanted to maintain my level of fitness as much as I could – not only for my own wellbeing and making me feel good about myself, but the benefits of

exercising through pregnancy are well documented for both the unborn child and the Mother.

Prior to my pregnancy, I had a tiny bit of exposure to CrossFit workouts and like everyone when they try CrossFit – I was hooked! Naturally I was keen to keep up this ... Read her whole story here.

"Six weeks ago I entered the ‘box’ in Wellington to start training. I was in town for four weeks. Over just four weeks the incredible trainers showed me how to use CrossFit and diet to change my body, mind and my life!

Training with the MyCrossFit team, was incredible. The trainers gave me the support and direction to be able to work as hard as I could through each session. They helped me bring out my competitiveness. They taught me how to use correct form to push the body harder. I learnt ... Read her whole story here.

Satu Kontinen - Her Story ...

"Rewind the clock back 2.5 years and I had always been thin (skinny, some might say). I usually weighed around 52 kilos, but there I was - holding a baby in my arms and weighing close to 80 kilos. What the f%#k? “Oh, it'll come off”, I thought. Fast forward 2 years and what do you know? It didn't.

I joined a boxing club and started boxing 2-3 times a week. I went back to the gym. I tried CrossFit (but on my own). I even changed my diet to something resembling a Primal diet. In six months I had achieved some results but then 'life' happened again - a long period of being ill followed by a decision to leave our home country, all kept me away from exercising.

Then we arrived in Wellington. I had not been moving a muscle in close to a year and was starting to look and feel like it. We found MyCrossFit and joined immediately; the result?

During these past 6 months with MyCrossFit, I've seen more changes than ever before. My weight is back to around 53 kilos (with muscles) and I've adapted to an entirely new lifestyle and diet. I finally found an environment that gets me motivated and keeps me interested while allowing me to mix with people who have become my friends.

Mike’s gym is a no-fuss, no-frills place to work out. It’s group fitness training but with individualised personalised coaching. You are treated with respect no matter what your level of fitness, and always encouraged to get more out of yourself every session (aka – getting your butt kicked).

I am now able to do many things that I never thought possible. I do the same things that the Men do, which for some reason seems important to me. I thought I'd never be able to do an overhead squat. I thought I'd never be able to do a split jerk, a clean and jerk, or anything involving lifting a bar with weight on it over my head – I can now. Within 4 months, I went from 0 pull-ups to 20 in a row.

Without the right place, I may not have been able to make the changes I have.

Today I feel better about myself than ever before".
